Chardham Registration is mandatory for famous religious circuit Char Dham Yatra visited by thousands of devotees every day between the months of April to October. The Char dhams are located on the high Himalayas of Uttarakhand state, Chardham yatra completes the visit of four famous sacred Hindu pilgrimage destinations of India Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

These four ancient temples also mark the spiritual source of four sacred rivers of India namely River Yamuna (Yamunotri), River Ganga or Ganges (Gangotri), River Mandakini (Kedarnath) and River Alaknanda (Badrinath).

The Chardham Yatra covers the holy shrines Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri, which hold spiritual significance for devotees. To make the journey smooth for devotees, the Government of Uttarakhand mandates registration for Char Dham Yatra 2024.

Chardham Yatra Registration

Chardham Yatra registration is mandatory for all devotees who are willing to go for Chardham Yatra. After successfully registering yourself, you will get a biometric registration card, which is also known as Yatra Pass and Yatra Permits. 

The biometric registration card will track you through a GPS-based monitoring system that will help the government to know the flow of tourists on a particular Dham.You can do Chardham Yatra registration through both online and offline Process. 

After the 2013 Uttarakhand floods, the government faced a lot of criticism for their preparedness for disaster management and instant flood and rain. It was very hard to get the information of the pilgrims who were trapped in the flood. Governments also didn’t have their details to get in touch with their families. So, In 2013, when the Yatra started, Uttarakhand govt. made it compulsory to register before starting Char Dham Yatra. So, If you are planning to visit any temple of char dham circuit, you should register yourself before starting your Yatra.

Documents required during Registration for Chardham Yatra

There are certain documents which are required during online/offline Chardham Yatra registration. Below given are the  document you need for registration 

• Mobile Number.
• One ID Proof can be a voter ID card, Aadhar card, PAN number, Driving license, or passport.

Offline Registration for Chardham Yatra

Registration for Char dham yatra is available by both online and offline Process. You can choose any of the process as per your convenience 

If you want to register yourself offline for Chardham Yatra, then you have to visit the 14 registration centers, which are available for the registration process which has around 50 counters to help pilgrims. These are the 14 centers where you will get your biometric registration card. Make sure that you have all the documents which are mentioned above for the Char dham Registration process.

Online Registration for Chardham Yatra

If you want to save time and don’t want to stand in a long line, then online Chardham Yatra registration is the best way to register yourself for this religious journey. Certain things are required during the Registration, like – mobile number, email & one ID proof such as PAN number, Aadhar Number, Passport, Driving License or Voter ID number. The nominal value of INR 50/- will be charged per person.

Steps for online registration for Chardham yatra

Below given are the process for online registration for Char dham yatra.

• Step 1:  Visit the official website of Chardham yatra. Link is given below
• Step 2: Get Char Dham information & Tourist Registration and Verification Process.
• Step 3:  Click on Login/Register Registration through any of the below identity – Individual (Self) or Family (Self and Family) or Tour Operator
• Step 4: To create a new account, enter Full Name, Mobile No., Select Tour Operator/Individual/Family, Enter Password & Confirm Password, and then click on Sign Up button.
• Step 5: If you have already Signed Up earlier then, Sign In from the same page with entering Mobile Number, Password and Enter Captcha and click on it.
• Step 6: After Sign In, you will see the Dashboard with your name on the left side.
• Step 7: Now, create/manage a tour by clicking on Create/Manage Tour Info. The Plan Your Trip Page will open.
• Step 8: Click on Add New Tour
• Step 9: Select Tour Type, add Tour Name, select Tour Duration (Date of Entering & Leaving into state) in Uttarakhand from date picker. Enter the No. of Tourists (If there are 5 family members, who are coming to Uttarakhand then the user has to enter 5 numbers in that column), Select Specific Date of Tour in front of the destination.
• Step 10: Click on Save button
• Step 11: Now, you will see the tour has been created
• Step 12: Add a pilgrim under that tour. So, click on Add Pilgrim button now
• Step 13: You will see the Registration of Tourist form now. Your destination will be displayed automatically. Here, the user has to enter details of the person who is going to travel to Uttarakhand for Char dham yatra.
• Step 14: Enter Full Name*, Enter Age*, Select Gender*, Email Address, Mobile number of Tourist* (To be carried during yatra), Country, Residential Address, City, District Name, Select State, Emergency Contact Person, Mobile Number and Relation (Who is not traveling with you) Contact Person Name, Emergency Contact Number, Contact Person Relation. 
• Suppose if you are selecting a Private car then enter Driver’s Name and Vehicle Number. Enter passport size photo, Select Identity proof and Upload that document.
• Step 15:  If you want to add more tourists then you can click on Save & Next or else you can click on Finish button to complete the registration.
• Step 16: Then the user has to download the Yatra Registration Letter in which a unique QR code will be displayed on that PDF, which the user can see on the List of Pilgrims/Tourist screen. The tourist/pilgrim has to keep that registration slip during the Uttarakhand yatra. And also an SMS will be sent to the tourist from the system along with the unique ID.
• Step 17: Tourists have to keep that Yatra Registration Letter or that received SMS on their mobile number during the Uttarakhand tour.
• Step 18: Before the check-in of that destination, Yatrimitra will check that SMS or Yatra Registration Letter (QR code) for verification.
• Step 19: Pilgrim will also get Yatri Certificate in their login after verification at Chardham

After registering yourself successfully, the user will receive an online registration slip. By showing the registration slip, you can obtain the biometric registration card from any of the Chota Char Dham yatra registration centers and can enjoy your chardham yatra journey peacefully.

The Chardham Yatra journey takes approximately 9 – 10 days, which is a lengthy duration by road; helicopter services are also available for the pilgrims. You can utilize your time by visiting all the holy destinations during the Chardahm Yatra.
